LOL ok first 2K done since surgery 1 month ago! I know I'm laughing harder than you guys!!!! But, hey we all have to start somewhere to move on the the 5k 10 k and marithons:) They announced it at work for lunch that we were having one for our patient's and to join in for the homeless. Perfect...excercise and helping people at the same time. Now to keep it up w/a program to get me doing a 5K.

agreed!  my first workout post-op was getting out of the bed in the hospital and walking to the end of the hall and back.  it was all gravy after that.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

Mazel Tov! A month out from surgery I don't think I could walk a mile yet. That's great, and helping people is a bonus.

I don't think any of us here would laugh since we have all come from the same place as you....obesity.  I'm sure we all had problems just climbing a flight of  stairs or walking around the block at one time.  The fact that any of us run at all is great.

ok, you didn't make us laugh -- well you did make me smile (thanks!).  I would imagine there were lots of smiles after the charity work.  Good for you!

Congrats for taking the steps; most, if not all, of us would have have found excuses not to prior to surgery.  Now you're moving and it's solely up to you to keep yourself moving forward -- doesn't matter how fast it is!

Thanks again for the smile

Nothing to laugh about unless you laugh when you are happy.  2K is 2K better than 0K and it is a start.  All of us here started someplace and worked to get where we are today.  Your 2K is just as good as anything any of us do.

Build upon it and enjoy it, you will have a blast and be smiling and laughing a lot more.

Thanks everyone...I just got a chuckle out of saying 2k since it is amazing you guys are doing 5k to marathons.  It's amazing to think that I'll be able to accomplish that in later months w/all of you ( hopefully:).  Congrats to all of you!!!!!!!!!!!  One of my best friends is a runner and I know it's one of the more difficult sports there is out there.  How did you guys start running?  Is there a program you followed or did you just keep increasing the distance that you went every week?

I am not running 5k's. Yet!  I am doing the Couch to 5k (C25k) program which is a 9 week program to train to run a 5k; I just completed my week 4.  It's a great program and there are several other programs that incorporate intervals of walking/running for a weekly progression toward completing a 5k and beyond.  I check in with this board daily for inspiration and motivation -- these people are awesome motivators and cheer leaders.

Hope to see you posting.
