I am working into my 3rd 1/2 marathon, but I would like to be able to run most if not all of it. Needless to say, I am very new to running-so I am not sure of all the lingo. My last 1/2 marathon I noticed a lot of people wearing watches that would beep and they would stop running...it would beep again and they would start running again. I would really like something like that. Is that what is referred to as the pacing?

Any good relatively inexpensive watches out there? I just have no idea what to look for. Best Buy seems to have a million watches.

I love my Garmin. I have it set with four screens, one tells me the current time, one my pace, one the distance and one how long I've been running. It also is set to beep at every mile. I don't care about the heart rate so got the cheaper model.

Lots of watches let you set intervals. You can also get a "gym boss" which is designed to do that and a lot cheaper than the HRM/GPS watches. I love my Garmin but it cost $400! You can get a Gym Boss for as little as $20.

You can get the previous model to the Garmin for a lot less than the 410 or whatever the most current model is.

The Garmin 305

You can find it for as low as $99 but the average seems to be $130ish
The nice thing about these Garmins is you can also use them on the bike it will give you speed and you can get cadence sensors etc.

The 305 isn'****erproof like the 410, but It is resistant enough to use it in the rain.  I just wouldn't swim with it.

This is not exactly what you're looking for BUT
try fitbit.com

I have mine for about 6 months now. You track how much you eat, and how much exercise you do, and your sleeping patterns. You might want to look into it.
