What do you eat/drink before and after workout?

Looking for some advice from you vets. I never know what to eat or drink around the times of my workouts. How long before and/or after? Does your routine differ depending on if you work out in the morning or evening? Thanks!

About 30-45 minutes before my workout I have 4 slices of apple and a table spoon of peanut butter.  I also drink some water.

After my workout I drink 12 oz of Muscle Milk.  It tastes a little icky but if you keep it really cold it's not so bad.

Lots of water before, during and after.

I guess that would depend on when you work out, yeah? I work out in the mornings beginning sometime between 0930 and 1000. I usually have a smoothie with 4-5 strawberries (frozen), 1/4c light n fit vanilla yogurt, 1/2 skim or lowfat milk, and a couple ice cubes....all tossed in the BULLET and drank on my drive to the gym. Water, Water, Water. Post work-out, I'll eat 1/2 C. of 1% cottage cheese (usually with garlic pepper grinded on it). If I have REALLY been hitting the weight training I will throw in 1/2 banana to the smoothie.

ALSO, I should mention that I have NOT had any kind of WLS...so I have no problems eating any of this. Some post-ops might. I have been working SUPER hard, and the weight IS coming off...just not as fast I'd like it to!

For any workout, I have a carby snack before if it's been more than 2 hour since I've last eaten. I aim for about 100-200 calories and it's usually fruit and/or veggies but sometimes it's cheese sticks.

During the workout, it depends on the workout -- how long and how intense it is. Normally, I just have water but sometimes I have a sports drink for 1 hour workouts. Longer, I have a sports drink. Bike rides I also have Gu Roctane and Powerbar Energy bites.

After the workout I either have Fluid Recovery Drink or I eat something that has carbs and protein in it. Again, aiming for around 100-200 calories.

But I'm at maintenance. When I was losing, I had less food before and after and more often had water during a workout.
