Shoulder update (Finally good news)

Saw the Ortho yesterday and the news was fairly good.  3 weeks PT to get me back to everyday use and possibly 3-4 more weeks to get me back to where I can resume my wupper body workouts.  I got the shot which was not fun at all, but he figures by next week that the pain should be a thing of the past.

Thinking on if I should run a 5K on Monday.  I have the 10K on July4th which I am 100% doing, but this shoulder thing has thrown me totally off track as far as training for it.  Hopefully with the shot my runs won't end in pain and I can start getting some distance back.  I will gladly swap distance for what little speed I have built up at this point.

Paul - I am glad you are not having to have surgery and that you seem to be on your way to healing your shoulder.

As for the 5k Monday -- I remember reading how much pain you were in after your run last week.  The whole body feels the impact of our runs, although more so on lower body.  In the long run will your shoulder heal quicker, pain subside quicker if you sit out this weekend's 5k and just allow your body to heal one more week?  Only you can answer those questions.

Wishing you a full shoulder recovery very soon

I'm with the others, when you attempt to go back too soon the possibility exists to delay your recovery even longer, so that 6-7 weeks to full recovery could turn into 3-4 months. I vote sit.

Mazel Tov! So glad the news is so good and you will heal so quick. I agree with the others. Why push yourself on Monday. You have the rest of your life to run as many races as you want, let yourself heal this time.

Good news! Up to you for mon, I would sit out if you are still in pain, plenty of other 5k's around here to run when you are 100%.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??
