Back in December I got strep throat and a sinus infection at the same time. I was not going to let this slow me down or interupt my workouts. I went to the doctor and got my medicines and he said as long as I don't have a fever or I have no problems with my lungs I can workout if I want. Well I was determined to workout....and I never got out of my bed!!!! Hahahaha!!!!
I was just too sick. It was a workout to get out of bed and walk to my recliner. I don't know what I was thinking????
Just listen to what your body is telling you. Mine was telling me "take a step near that treadmill and you're dead!!!"

Nagging, one trick pony here. Know the signs of dehydration. It's the # 1 reason WLS people reenter the hospital. You had surgery not to long ago. You are dropping weight like crazy. It is hard to grab for the energy. Before you could grab a candybar...Not now!! Karate test may have to wait... The stamina will come back. When I was dropping the weight quickly I lost 10 pounds in 1 week. Do you know how much that takes out of you to lose that fast!! The energy level will come back...But usually not during the rapid weightloss period...
I try to get in 80 ounces of plain old water daily and then other stuff, too. I haven't been dehydrated yet but in the early days it seemed like I couldn't get all my liquids in.
Prior to getting sick I was working out an hour in the morning at the gym and then doing karate class in the evenings 2 or 3 times a week, and I was doing good. Not a TON of working out, like most of you people here, but a good 25 minutes of cardio and then 35 or 40 minutes of weights on different machines, and some stretching. Since I've been sick its been an effort to just get through the workday.

Listen to your body. If it wants rest, give it rest. If it wants to exercise, then exercise. Becoming a regular exerciser for life will require you to respect and listen to the signals your body is giving....I've exercised with a nagging headache or allergies, but anything else, I'm down for the count!!
