Hi all,
I started working out at the gym 10 days post op. Today I am 13 days post op. Well yesteday
I started experiencing dizziness. Today I did Zumba but left after 45 mins
Because again I was feeling dizzy. I think it may be because I'm not eating enough.
I usually only have 4 oz of food for the day before I go work out. I have been giving the
Ok from the doc to work out however I do believe that the stage of the diet I'm at now that it
Is too soon to work out.
Please share with me your thoughts and experiences.

Hey Meghant, congrats on your surgery. I started just walking about 5weeks after surgery. There is a local college in my area with a well lit and wide pathed outdoors walking trail. I first started out eager and tried out joggin right away but my surgeon told me to gradually increase...of course now I'm up to brisk walking and lite jogging being almost 2yrs post op. The ZUmba I hear is very upbeat..you may wanna go with something not so vigorous...but hey keep Zumba on your list for later and definitely keep moving...it'll help in so many ways ;)
Thanks for the reply. I started doing zumba about 2 yrs ago so thought that if I go and not go too hard I would be ok. I initially did 20 mins on treadmill but I feel like I was doing anything. I think may give the nutritionist a call tomorrow she told me before should have no problem working out while on liquid and puree stage but find that not to be true
My doc would only let me walk for the first 8 weeks after surgery. But your type might be different. Remember that you are still healing. You'll have plenty of time to work out the rest of your life.
Good luck.

I get dizzy when I try to workout with too little in my stomach.....you need fuel to get thru a workout. 30 mins before I workout I eat 3 lo fat Ritz with some colby cheese....no more dizziness.
I started exercising the day after I got home! Was back on my treadmill very slowly and progressed back to my regular weight workouts at about 4 weeks. I worked out regularly for 6 months before surgery so my doctor cleared me pretty quickly.

i was only cleared to walk for the first 6 weeks, after that i was cleared for all exercise. for the first 2-3 weeks i walked every day for 30 min only. remember, you are definitely still healing! i started walking longer and faster after 3 weeks and after 6 weeks started to go to the gym and added strength and other cardio. ease into it, your body will thank you!
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.
