exercise the week of a race

Any suggestions on exercising the week of a race. The race is just a 5K on Sat but it is my first. Also what to eat the day before and the day of . I'm guessing it doesn't matter to much for a 5K but I thought I would ask anyway.

I really would not do anything different than you have been doing. Perhaps a light run on Friday and some easy stretching just to loosen up would be nice. As far as eating, just do what has worked before any run that you have felt good on. For me, I don't eat sugar the day before a run and I don't eat at all before a morning run.

As Scott says, you should go with what you've been training with. For myself, I like to have a GU packet about 45 minutes before the start, and a banana. Today, I forgot the banana and did fine. I like to put NUUN in my water. The GU gives my legs the energy I need to get going.
