I took my first Spin Class today. It was an awesome workout..I have a question.. do you get used to the pressure on the back side/groin area? Or, what?

Any technique suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Michelle,

It does get better. It just takes time for your sit bones to get used to the saddle and the saddle soreness eventually subsides. I would recommend some cycling shorts that have nice padding to help with the discomfort... Congrats on your first class!

I used to take a towel and fold it into a square and sit on it on the seat. My butt is still too big for bike shorts. Good Luck

it definitely gets better over time... my first time I thought I wasn't going to be able to sit for a week afterward (and I don't think I did :)  )   That was probably about 8 months ago.  Last week I did a couple of 55 mile (3 hour) rides and I don't notice any soreness at all.

yep, same as the others, you get used to it.  at this point, i just wear my normal day-to-day workout clothes to spin, i don't notice any saddle soreness anymore.  congrats on your first spin class!
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

I am about 3 or 4 classes into it and can say my first couple were the worst.  You get used to it and eventually will find a position that helps ease some of the pressure points.

Congrats on giving something new a shot!
