Need motivation!

A little background about me!  I joined OH in 2005 when I was attempting to have WLS.  I decided to try it on my own one more time.  Between 2005 and 2006 I successfully lost 137 pounds through diet, exercise and a little orange pill (Dexadrine) otherwise known as prescribed speed.

In 2006 as soon as I went of of the little orange pill I immediately started gaining back weight.  The bad news is that I gained back 120 pounds in the course of the next 5 years.  On March 29 I had WLS and currently have the Lap Band.

When I was actively losing and changing my life 5 years ago -- for what I thought was forever -- I was a gym addict.  I joined in 2002, went sporadically, and then in 2005 when I was three months into my diet I was an avid gym rat.  I went 5-6 times a week, an hour of cardio, an hour of Group Power (weight lifting to music) and then another 1/2 hour cardio.  I loved it and honestly still do.

But I can't seem to get motivated enough to go back.  I am planning on going back in the morning.  I am 4 weeks out and really need to incorporate exercise back into my life.  I am right now charging my I-pod and I have a good book to bring.  I am planning on doing cardio only as I am not cleared for weights until 3-4 more weeks.  But I'm not there yet and any number of things can convince me not to actually get there in the morning.  UGH.

So any tips on what makes you go back?? I have to admit seeing all of you running 5K's is a definite intimidation!!  Running for me with horribly compromised knees is not an option, hence the elliptical.    Any suggestions or what gets YOU there would be greatly appreciated!

Vivian posted this quote on the RNY forum and I hung it in my exercise room.  It motivates me to keep going.  Signing up for events, training with a team or friends, taking a class with friends, finding something I love to do, but usually something I can do with someone else is what motivates me.

Thank you, makes a lot of sense.

Well i did get up to go to the gym this morning.  Up and at 'em at 5:15, at the gym at 5:30.  I started slow of course, did 2 miles on the elliptical, burned a whopping 200 calories!  But that's 2 miles and 200 calories more then I would have accomplished laying in the bed.

good for you!  read my post directly above this one, and scott wililams wrote a similar post below.  those moments make all the hours we spend in gym and getting up early worthwhile.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.
