So what do I do about my stupid hand?

I refuse to call it carpal tunnel, but my hand, the area around the thumb where the big pad was and the wrist area under the thumb was hurting enough that I couldn't grip my weights to do any lifting today.  Really bummed.  Went and bought a wrist brace that's good support for carpal tunnel, even though I don't have it (don't try to tell me otherwise, denial is such a great place to live).  It's been coming and going for years, but I haven't been lifting before so I just usually take it easy until it goes away.  The brace has been helping all day, but how long before I can do weights again?  I don't want to just work my left arm because that doesn't seem right, or should I?  Is there a way to prevent this type of injury?  My arms and shoulders are really starting to look good with definition and everything, and I don't want to lose what I've worked so hard for.

Any advice would be great!  Thanks.

Here is the treatment for the carpal tunnel YOU DON'T HAVE....

Take some Tylenol for flare ups.  Wear a brace at night for stability.

And for prevention do the exercises below.  They will strengthen your wrist muscles.  You can do a search for wrist exercises for more info.

If it continues to get worse some people swear by B6 vitamins and to help with inflammation you can take diuretics (NSAIDs help with inflammation but those are a no-no).  A doctor can give you steroid injections too.  But I say stick with the at home treatments as long as possible

Thanks! it's starting to feel better today, I've been wearing a brace I bought. But still too weak to do any weight lifting.
