Hi there,

I see a lot of you post about participating in races, so I would like to post that I will be participating in the Cleveland Marathon on May 15th but as a 10k walker. I have never been fond of running but I do love to walk which I do every morning so I am really happy to be a part of this event.  Five plus years ago there was no way I would even have had the energy for it, let alone want to do it.  I am going to raise money for Cancer which also motivates me even more.

I am so thankful for having this surgery and allowing myself to change my life for the better.

Kudos to all of you who run, walk or whatever exersise you need to do to keep on track and stay focused on your program.

Thanks

way to set the goal and then make it happen!  Doing it for charity makes it that much sweeter!  I run for World vision, in fact, I am looking to join the World Vision NYC Marathon team :)

Best of luck!

My first half marathon last year was all walking, and I did it to raise money for Team Challenge and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. Training for a charity really motivated me (both my kids have Crohn's), and the comraderie and team spirit really kept me going. It was a wonderful experience. I've only just started running, and that's very slowly. Good luck to you! You'll have a great time!

The best part of walking them is it's easier to talk and enjoy the people you're with.  Running, you're trying to get a good time, keep going, work through the pain, ...  Walkers talk and laugh and, IMO, enjoy the actual event together a lot more.  At this point, I don't plan to ever run a half, but I do enjoy walking with my teammates.

Good luck to you!

There are a number of great walking events - so congrats for taking part in one!  I'm actually walking the Boston Marathon route in September in a large charity event for a local children's cancer non-profit.

I will have walked 2 marathons before I will run my first one!

Please, continue to post about any events you do!
