Just signed up for my first 5K
To celebrate my pre-op weight loss (74 lbs since July 2010) and improvements in my health, I decided to complete a 5K before I have surgery. I don't really care how long it takes me, as long as I fini**** I expect that it will take me about 50 minutes or so, which sounds great to me. I know it can only get better from here.
For whatever reason though, my mind is playing games with me. I feel like I'm making a mistake, like I won't even be able to fini**** despite the fact that I regularly walk 3-4 miles. I'm worried about being embarassed about possibly being the biggest person on the course. After weeks of debating with myself whether this was something I should do, I just decided to register and go for it, even if I have to crawl over the finish line.
But mostly I'm excited - a reason to finally go get a good pair of shoes, some new work out clothes. It might be take me a while to get over the fact that I just PAID to go do a 5K.

You have nothing to be embarassed about, you will be one of the few out there doing it rather than home sleeping so if anything be proud of the fact you are doing something to improve your health and fitness.
You will be amazed at how good you do the first time out, especially if you set your goal to finish.
Good Luck!
