I'm pre-op and have just been walking around the neighbor hood for my exercise. Some times I get this burning/pain on the outer side of my lower right leg. I'm assuming this is from over working the muscles there. What kind of stretches can I do before I start walking. This is keeping me from going long distances.
Thanks!

I always recommend http://exrx.net for exercise information.  Since it sounds  like you have some calf pain, check out http://www.exrx.net/Lists/ExList/CalfWt.html and look at the right had side of the page and check the "Stretches" listed for calves.

You might hear differently from others as there are lots of philosophies about stretching, but what works for me, and what I have always been told, is that it is better to stretch warmed-up muscles, rather than cold muscles.  So what you might want to do to try and prevent the calf pain is take a short walk, do some jumping jacks, or even just jump up and down for a short bit, and then stretch, before getting into the main part of your workout.

Personally, I don't stretch until the end of my workout, but because you are having pain during your workout, it is worth trying stretching before hand to see if that helps.

Good luck!
