X-fit
I started an X-Fit program last week and it's definately a challenge. A lot more weight lifting than I ever imaged I would do. I'm very pleased with myself that I'm getting thru the workouts but slightly paniced that I've gained 2 pounds since starting the program. Is this normal when adding weight lifting to our exercise program?
The short answer is yes. Basically, when you do weight lifting, you are creating small tears in your muscles. As they heal, they use/retain a lot of water in the process which is where you get your weight gain. The muscles will grow stronger and increase your metabolism. MacMadame posted an article on this:

I did a heavy crossfit program this winter and spring and I gained 5 pounds of muscle. It's awesome because I'm so much stronger and my clothes fit better.
