I wish I had an answer for that......I did nothing to lose weight b4 surgery. I think it's awesome that you are trying. My guess is just try some walking in the am on an empty stomach.
No longer about weight , it's all about living.

I started out (at 420lbs) by just a few minutes of walking/elliptical, and I've worked myself up and increased my exercise slowly.

With such a short time before surgery, I think you will lose the most weight by jus****ching what you eat and eating low cal and/or protein shake meal replacements. However, you should try and walk (it's free, and you can go at your own pace) and lift weights if you can prior to surgery. You will feel better and should make recovery a little easier.

I've been waiting 9 months for surgery to be approved, so I've lost quite a bit of weight. Just takes some motivation and good choices.

I wish you the best of luck!

Thank You AC Brown for that info. I've already changed my diet but didn't think about protein shake and I've been working out on the treadmill but now I will up my routine.  Thanks alot

I used the elliptical and did the protein shake thing.  I think the elliptical machine, if you have access to one, is a bit better than the treadmill in that it is very easy on the joints and gives you a bit of a full body range of motion if you use the arms too.  I also started to change basic lifestyle stuff, like parking fruther away in the lot, taking the stairs whenever possible, and in general walking whenever possible.  Just don't over do it, its about the rest of your life!

Any recommendation on protein shakes?

when I first started, it was all about convenience.. I used the EAS Carb Control ready made - they have them at sams club.  I also really liked the lean body on the go cholcolate milkshake.  I really liked them, so it almost was like I was treating myself.  I did 2-3 a day and then a balanced meal at night.

If you are using powder, the three I use a lot are Inner-Armour Nitro-Peak Vanilla,  GNC Wheybolic Amplified  Extreme Chocolate and Syntha-6 chocolate  All three I use for taste but also they have a good mix for when you start working out a lot.  Sometimes, as a treat, I also do a Casein Shake before bed.

In the 3months leading up to surgery I lost 50lbs, by walking around the block, swimming a couple times a week, and replacing 2 meals a day with protein shakes.

My Favs:

For fruity, non-dairy type shakes I loved Isopure (it's good once you get over the metallic aftertaste)
For milkshakey types I love About Time, it's only available online but it's low cal, low carb, and delicious!!!

For the 9 months prior to my surgery I focused on walking.  I started small and worked up to where prior to surgery I was walking 4 miles.
