Amino acids

Hello

Have question for you.  What do taking amino acid supplements do for you?  There is a woman on the LapBand board that swears by them and I wanted to get a second opion.  I am still losing weight (about 50 lbs to go).  I work out 5-6 days a week for about 90 minutes a day....30 minutes of that is weight lifting.

Here's what she said on the Lap Band board-
As for cutting fat, I SWEAR by amino acids.  They have worked like lipo for me.  They basically "saran wrap" the muscles to protect them so that all of your calories are burned from your fat and not your muscles or organs.

Do you find this to be true?  Is this something that would help me lose the rest of my weight?

I saw that post on the LB board too and wondered which Amino Acids she was referring to.. L-Carnitine??

Hope someone answers.

You can use bcaa's instead of food to fuel workouts and keep you from going catabolic and using muscle for fuel. They are a little to expensive for me to use though. If you use a good protein powder you will get the same benefit with only 100-150 calories but less money. They are cheaper if you buy the powdered form of bcaa's but good luck choking them down !!!

BCAA = Branch Chain Amino Acids

(For those who don't know)

And they are good for muscle recovery right after exercise. But it doesn't have to be some sort of supplement. Chicken has BCAAs, for example.
