My Big Race

I'm so pumped I just have to crow a bit.  I just finished my first 5K race (in a long, long, time).  I trained for 8 weeks following a c25k program and I met my goal of a 40 minute 5K.

Now I'm looking forward to my next 5K, (in May, at the beach, 36 minute goal time) and starting training for a 10K.  I'm hooked! and the weight is coming off faster now that I've taken up running.  I'm still obese, but closing in on overweight.

Hey, if a 51 year old couch potato (wait no, no more potato chips) can do this, anyone can.

Thanks.  I'm not sure I could do a 10K in July/August down here, maybe I'll set it for October, and continue 5K's this summer.  Not sure.  What's your experience in dealing with the heat?

it's not so bad, most races start early enough that the heat/humidity isn't too unbearable :)
