Can we take anything for muscle pain relief - Fitness Newbie

Hi Gang,

I am new to this forum and well let's just get it out there, I am new to exercise.  I had VSG 2 mos ago today, I am down 35 but still weighing in at 242 on a 5'5" frame.  Prior to surgery I hadn't really exercised in 15 years.

I am exercising 5-6 days a week now.  3 days of agressive walking (fast as possible and on hills - still too heavy to run without hurting my joints) and 3 days of aerobics with weights/bands (Jazzercise).  I started walking a couple days post surgery and when released for exercise (2wks ago) added aerobics.  I've really amped up the intensity of my workouts and I flippin hurt everywhere, heck the palms of my hands my fingers hurt today from holding weights and using bands in class, along with my shoulders, quads, calfs, glutes which are all screaming.

Normally I would gut it out, but I can't seem to function today without thinking about how bad I hurt or focusing on it.  Prior workouts left me nicely sore but this just HURTS. I really don't like taking anything, but prior to surgery I would have taken something like Aleve/Naproxin etc.

Thoughts, advice???

I don't take anything except maybe a day or 2 off.  This is your body talking back and telling you that you may need to ease up a bit.  I know I went through this a lot in the start and still go through it at times.

Great to see you posting here .

See you at the Boulder Dash!

i don't take anything for normal muscle pain associated with exercise, but for accute pain or extraordinary pain, i take fast acting tylenol (or at least the target brand) only.  that does the trick as needed.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

I do tylenol, and my doctor also prescribed a cream called Voltaren that works wonders
