Marathon DONE!

Haven't seen official time but unofficially was 5:21. Walked thru water stops and the steep hills (which there were PLENTY of --thanks east TN) and even had to walk some here and there but it was doable...yesterday was brutal and I could barely walk but I will still do it again...and again....and again.

It was rough but I didn't pressure myself and simply wanted to finish this thing. It was an amazing emotional journey for me and when the course split for the half marathoners to finish, I suddenly got super lonely and didn't have as many people around me. At that moment, I started noticing something -- we were all there with our own story, we all run at our own speed, form, and gear and nobody cares about how much money we make, whether we're wearing Nike or Under Armor, or how cool our sunglasses are. We were all there with a common goal - to finish the race against ourselves. Ok..sap over..

I now have a 26.2 on my car!!!!! (and while I had it the day before, I refused to put it on my car until I earned it :)  )

Be happy.

Thanks! This same race in 2010 was my first half...my hubby said that I looked ten times better after doing the full than I did the half last year. I guess it's simply conditioning as I had only been running for 3 months at last year's half.

Be happy.

way to go!  congrats!  my first marathon was exactly the same way in Atlanta, when the 1/2 marathoners split off it suddenly got lonely (you could hear crickets).  i'm also the exact same way about the sticker/gear, i'm even more superstitioius, i refuse to even buy anything until i finish an event, i don't want to jinx myself :)
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.
