Group Ride and a PR

I still have yet to complete my first century (hopefully this weekend) but I did finish my first big group ride.

2500 ladies and I rode all over the East Bay in Nor Cal and it was beautiful and so much fun! It was only an 87mile ride, but it had about 3,500ft of climbing, lots of wind (it ran right next to big working wind turbines!) and I had a ball!

Plus, I had a 3 day weekend (Thank you Cesar Chavez) and rode over 200miles in those three days!

I love riding my bike!

Thanks, so you know how windy it gets up Patterson/Altamont Passes!!! Crazy! At one point we are pedaling our hearts out....pumping hard,  no one is talking cuz we're all panting, and I look down at the speedometer...........11mph!~

it was rough, but wonderful to finish with my group of awesome newbie cycling gals!

I hate that when it feels like you are going all out and you are barely moving.  It's really unfair when you get that headwind going uphill.

Still sounds like a nice way to spend the weekend.

We have one hill here that I was riding last year.  I was working so hard to get up that dang thing, I made the mistake of looking at the speedometer.  4 mph and no more gears to switch into.  If I had gone any slower, I would have fallen over on the bike.  I probably could have walked up the hill faster than I was riding, but I didn't want to quit.

Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

LOL! Amazing how quickly things can change. Last spring, I hadn't been on a bike in over 15yrs...and was all wobbly....now I get to ride my bike for hours- life is sweet!

Only 87 miles? There is no "only" about that! Great job, so awesome you found cycling in your new lifestyle!
