Just curious...We have heard the horror stories and the no nos from our doctors.  This is what I will do sometimes.  If my muscle is pulled, strained, or sprained bad I will take 1 Ibuprofen per day.  I do take a daily baby aspirin for my heart anyways.  I don't want to go hog wild with NSAIDS and only take them when it is real bad.  Otherwise I just live with the pain.  The funny thing is I can never feel my old stomach...Except when I take an Ibuprofen.  Then I can feel it somewhat with the small irritation it give me there.  What about you?

I survive on ice, heat, muscle relaxers (rare) and tylenol as needed.

During hospital stays I have received IV Toradol from my surgeon, but otherwise I have not taken any NSAIDs.  I dream about them though!

Nope, am too afraid of ulcers. Everyone I've talked to that's taken them got really horrifically painful ulcers and I would like to not go thought all that!

Good Luck!

I don't even have RnY and I won't take them unless the PAIN gets to be so bad I can't concentrate. That's because they interfere with your fitness gains. I figure there is no way I will work this hard to get in shape and then lessen the outcome unless I absolutely can't help it.

Nope.  I do suffer from ulcers post-op so I avoid all forms of NSAIDs.  Even when I was messed up from my fall and had pulled muscles in my chest.  I simply took some time off and lived on Lortab.

No NSAIDS here... I have taken 1/3 Vicodin when the pain was unbearable, but never an NSAID...

My surgeon said recent studies are showing that NSAIDS taken by RNY patients for short term pain management can be safe.  He said I could take them up to 6 months daily for arthritis as long as I took them with Prilosec.

Ask your surgeon.

My primary told me that Celebrex even though an NSAID is formulted in a way that it does not cause the GI issues that others do.  I haven't researched this yet so I am totally unsure about it.
