So registrations opened for my tri last Friday and I signed up right around 8.  They only accept about 175 registrations so I wanted to make sure I got in.  My future brother-in-law registered as well.

So now I'm committed.

I need to know a good resource, or just general advice from you all on training and race day tips.  I've seen tri suits on TeamEstrogen.com which I'm thinking of investing in.  I'm guessing I complete the entire tri in these?  They do have chamois and I'm guessing its a special kind that isn't going to feel like a diaper from swimming in it?  What about shoes?  I use SPD cleats on my bike so I'm guessing I just switch out my shoes in the transitions between each section?

I am a complete newbie here.  Any advice that I should know would be GREATLY appreciated.

when is your tri?  do you have a training plan in mind? the beginner triathlete website (http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/)  has a lot of good information, it can be overwhelming, so make sure you are asking questions.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

 It's August 6th.

I don't have a formal plan yet, and I know I need one.  I am planning on jogging 3 days a week and riding my bike on the trainer twice a wee****il the weather improves.  As for swimming that will have to wait until the summer.

Congrats on registering, believe it or not, that is the hardest part! Now all you need to do is train!

Congrats on registering!

I wear a 2-piece tri suit, it just works better for me, I have a big butt, plus I like my shorts a little longer to keep the extra skin in, so I wear the orca tri pant, they are shorts, but since they are the longest female shorts at a 7 inch inseam they just call them that. I wear a 2XU top, it keeps all the extra skin up top all in. The chamois in tri shorts is not as thick as in cycling shorts, and it is quick drying, and it doesn't feel like a diaper swimming in it, www.swimoutlet.com has a big selection of triathlon apparel. You just switch out shoes in transition.
