Considering this ride.  Not sure if it is biting off more than I can chew.
http://ridewithgps.com/routes/30819

It's about the same amount of climbing as my last ride (which I didn't complete) but it is spread out over 3x the distance, so the climbing is not as severe.  Climbing is my big slowdown, It's where I tend to get dropped from the group.  I'm hoping that with it being more spread out that I can hang with the pack.

Suggestions, or considerations???  Talk me out of it, or talk me into it...

Thanks

Scott

 Holy crap, 250 miles.
No suggestions from me, just good luck.
DO IT.

I hope to do the National 24 hour ride next year, hoping I can get in 300 miles.  The crazy things we dream of!

Good luck!

I guess I got the answer I need from my wife.

" Either ride like Lance or stay home and play the Wii bike riding game."

Guess I'm going for it.

dude.  that is crazy.  is it an out and back (judging from the elevation profile it is)?  i say go for it.... but make sure you're ready to bring the wood!  awesome.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

You got that!!! EPIC. BILL, DID YOU JUST SAY BRING THE WOOD???  Did you mean bring the thunder, cuz if you brought wood, you probably won't have a pack that wants to hang around much with ya!!!

I'll let you know how it goes.

The daunting part is with it being so long, I'm going to be doing some night riding as well.
Probably through a majority of the night without any sleep.

If I can average 15mph it's going to be an almost 17 hour ride and that doesn't account for any breaks.

I know that when the ride starts there will be a pack of people and we will probably be doing in the mid to high 20's, but when we start climbing the hills, the pack will blow up and people will get strung out.

The thought of doing 200+ miles by myself is both mind and butt numbing... ;-)

Did you get into the Wine Country Century?  I am thinking of volunteering before the event so I can ride it twice.  Once as a participant and once on the volunteer ride.
