5k to 10k
I have just peaked at this forum a few times and only in the last seven weeks actually gotten into a regular program. I just finished week 7 of the couch to 5k program and I am looking toward doing the 10k program next.
Has anyone just carried on to do the 10k after the 5k? I was just wondering if it can be done or should I just be happy with running the 5k for a while. Of course, do I just continue with running 5k daily or do I continue with a sort of interval training? Has anyone found any reading material that helps gives answers to these types of running questions?
Thanks

I completed the C25K a few weeks ago. I've slacked a bit in my running commitment, but come the end of April, I'm going to hit this Beginner to 10K program pretty hard:

Looks to be similar to the C25K in the interval training aspect, which I like. Though those intervals look LONG!!
Best of luck.
Do you have a 10K race on the calendar already?

My first race after surgery was 6 months post op and it was a 5K. My second race was exactly two months later and was 11.6 miles so it certainly can be done. I would just keep adding a mile to each long run until I was at the distance I wanted. You don't want to add too many miles each week though because you will be inviting injury.

It's really all about how you feel. If you like running longer, then start working towards the 10k. Sign up for a race two or three months from now and go for it. If you are liking the distance of the 5k, then stay there for a while, sign up for some 5k races and work on your time. Then add some distance over the summer and try some 10ks in the fall. No rules, just what feels good to you!!!
