I swam with paddles today.. what a workout!  I did about 1200 yards or so, most with the paddles which really works you. It also seems to accentuate form mistakes.  When I took the paddles off for a few 100's I thought I had a jet pack on.  I finished a late 100 in about 2:08 which for me is blazing (I know for Dan and most of you I might as well be dog paddeling with that kind of time :)  ), especially late in a workout.. let's hope those paddle workouts improve my long term swim times too.  I'm most nervous about making the cutoff in Orlando on the swim.

Dude, you will be fine in Orlando! What AG are you in? I may let you draft if you are 35-39... Paddles will help for sure, do them while using a float bouey between the thighs as well, and you will really feel a strong pull! You got this... When I swim with master's, we do 1000M warm-up, then 4x 500m Pull with paddles  & boueys, then 500M cool down... Talk about being wrecked!!!

I'm in the 41 AG so I guess a bit behind you.  I am sure you'll be way ahead of me, I'm hoping to finish in 55 mins or so, although I have some time to get faster.  I hadn't really made much improvement the last few weeks, but today's workout gave me some confidence.  I'm going to try the pull buoy/paddle workout next week.  I think I have been stretching too much on the entry, and the paddles really make you enter correctly and agressively a lot more.

By the way.. I am all booked up for Orlando.. got my flights, hotel, car and booked to just have my bike shipped so I don't have to mess with it at all.  Was going to stay at the Wilderness Lodge - but holy crap, $400 a night?  So staying off Disney.  After visiting the race site last week, I am PUMPED up!  45 days out!  I have some tri questions I'm going to post in a new thread too ;)

for now just my 14yo son, the older kids have to work, and it turns out my wife will be in the midst of final exams (she is back in college fulltime) with exams friday and monday.. so just me and my wingman for now.  I might bring along the 10yo boy too, just worried about them over the course of 7 hours while I am on the course (although let's hope for closer to 6 ;) ).. planning to hit a park Monday if my legs still work...

Nutty day! Started early this morning (4:30am) and ran 5.3 miles. Then since I forgot about the morning run I went out and did 5.6 miles this evening. Senility is a great thing. Not sure how I am so lucky to have a young running partner that actually is dumber than me. She pushes me to do these stupid things. My wife thinks were dumb and dumber.
