Working out after an injury

I was in an accident a few months ago, went through physio and got discharged.  Last week I was rear-ended again by someone else and now I am injured.  I have bursitis in my hips from impact.  I am looking for some low impact exercises to help me ease back into normalacy.

When I was injured, I did water aerobics and water jogging.

Were they really low impact?  I have a pre-existing back problem and just been diagnosed with bilateral bursitis in my hips.  It hurts to walk, sit, etc, but I am trying to remain active inspite of that.

If they're still that acute, much exercise isn't going to help them heal... for now you're better off stretching the IT band and glutes, and as it starts to calm down a bit ease back into walking, light squats stuff like that.  Do you have access to a stationary bike?  That'd be a good thing to do now.

I hate that when I get things back on track then something happens and I end up back to square one.  It makes me frusterated.  I hate not being able to do things for myself.
