Has anyone run the Warrior Dash?

The one for my area (North Bend... near Seattle) is in July, and I was thinking it would be a awesome goal to work towards as I'm just hitting the gym. I just love the idea of getting all muddy at the end, and it seems like a really awesome event!

If you participated - what did you think of it? How did you train to get ready for it? (Its 3.5 mile run, with various obstacles thru out - including a mud pitt!!!). The website is: http://www.warriordash.com/index.php

A friend of mine is getting a group together for it. After reading about it, I determined that it wasn't the race for me. I'm not much of a water person and the thought of getting my shoes all wet and muddy is too much for me - lol. I can imagine that it is quite a challenge! You should go for it!

Not yet, but I'm registered for the one here in Michigan on July 29 and can't wait!!

Ours is 3.2 and I think it'll actually be easier than running a straight 5K.... some of the obstacles don't look real difficult and should offer a bit of a break from the running.  The only thing that worries me is climbing 'cause I have a really crappy right shoulder, but I'm going to focus on lat pulls, rows, and lower body strengthening.

Even though I'm not ready to do it today, I wi**** weren't still four months away, I think it'll be a blast!

Although running is a small part of the effort for this event, the real challenge our the obstacles. The mud pit is actually just a victory lap at the end of the event. It's a lot of fun, but be prepared to get real messy.

I did it last year and it was AWESOME!!!

Here's the link to my race report:

I didn't really do anything out of the ordinary to train - I had been running, lifting & kayaking all summer and felt pretty good about it.  I highly reccommend it, I'm signed up for the New England on on June 25th and can't wait to do it again..only one permanent scar from last year so I figured I'd give it another go!!

That's an awesome report, and I actually read it a couple of weeks ago when I did a search here on Warrior  Dash.   How much work did you have to do with your arms (like, did you actually have to haul yourself up and over anything with a rope?), and did you ever find out what your time turned out to be?

I am registered for the SoCal Warrior Dash on April 2 at Lake Elsinore.  I was stressing until I read Katie H's recap.  Now I'm excited!  It looks like so much fun!

Thank you all for your input!!!

I'm super-excited by all of your responses... tho I have to admit, am a little scared and intimidated! I just started working out post-surgery 2 weeks ago.

That being said, any type of competition is a good motivator for me!!!
