I think this is still true for a lot of us. Obesity told us we could never be what we wanted to be. Now I still strugle to believe what I can do because I still see the same obese person in the mirror even though he has been gone for a year now.

Great post, I hope we can all start breaking more strings that we think are chains holding us down.

Keep this in mind as you are getting ready for a 10k or a half this year. You can do what you tell yourself you can do. And you won't be able to do what you say you can't.
No longer about weight , it's all about living.

couldn't agree more... that's why the first step to succes (at anything) is typically visualizing the possiblity.  great post.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

I struggle with this almost everyday I exercise.  My 460 lb mind says I can not do this, do more than what I did yesterday.  I am absolutely amazed every time I push myself harder than the day before. Amazed that my body will respond, amazed that I can accomplish more than I ever thought possible.

Getting rid of my 460lb mindset has been the hardest part of this journey.

Someday.

I find it hard to get out of that mind set to it.  I have seen results in small portions, but as soon as I suffer a set back I am quick to return to the previous mindset, that I can't do it and convinve myself that is why I failed.
