I was out to dinner with some girlfriends last night and we all go to talking about my running, they were asking about what races I had coming up...my response was "I am running the Shamrock but ONLY doing the 8k."  I did not even realize what I had said until the girls were like "ONLY????"  A year ago I would not have even been asked that question.  So amazed at how far my brain and body has come!!!
Thanks everyone for all your support!!!  I will be running the 8k on Saturday with my teenager...he is almost as excited as I am, of course he is more excited about the Irish Stew at the end of the race...LOL

that is awesome!  when i was training for my first marathon, a buddy of mine told me that when you are really into your training and your are in a down week on your long run you'll be amazed to hear yourself nonchalantly say "just going out for an easy 10 today".... i thought, no way will that happen to me at the time, but sure enough, it did :)
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

Isn't it incredible how easily we take for granted what we can do now?  I could barely walk 1/4 mile without back and knee pain, and now I talk about going for 3-4 miles like it's barely nothing.  It's such a good feeling.  I'm glad your girlfriends pointed it out to you.  That's so wonderful.  Congratulations!
