Runners made me feel good
Last weekend was my 3rd 5K with my first being 11 weeks post op. My times have been
1st Sept 2010 47min
2nd Dec 2010 41min
3 rd Mar 2011 32min
So last night at a support meeting we had some people from a running store come in and do demonstration on trigger points and explain the benefits. The lady running the group is also the one who got me into running so I hung around after to ask her some questions and ended up helping the guys from the running store help carry stuff out.
As they were talking about there marathons and half marathons my friend informs them that I am new to running and just completed my third race. They asked how I was doing and told them my times for my 3 runs and the reaction I got was amazing. They werereally impressed with the time I was able to cut off since my first one. They said if I needed any advice to drop by the store. It re-enforced that I have started down the right path and am now in control of my life.

"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." - Albert Einstein
I rarely pass another runner on the road who doesn't wave or nod to me in solidarity. One lady shared her toilet paper with me in line for a porta potty at a race, without me even asking!
We all know how hard it is to run. Any improvement on your time or distance is proof that you are sticking to it and working hard. Any other runner can appreciate that. We all know that deep down, we are not in competition with eachother, just with ourselves. (ok, some elite athletes can argue a bit with that, but for most of us....)
Keep up the great work, you have lots to be proud of!!
