I am 31/2 years out of surgery and have lost about 90lbs.  I am about 25lbs aways from my goal weight but I've been stuck at the same weight  for the last two years. I've been losing and gaining the same 5-10lbs for two years.  I am obsessed with working out. Since the beginning, I've workout 6 to 7 days a week, mostly 7days. I do a hour of cardio and a hour strength training.  For the life of me I can not figure out how to break this plateau.  My diet is good but not perfect.   I change up my workout often. Any suggestions? Please help I'm in desperately want to get these  last 25lbs off once and for all.

thanks,

Jade

Hi Jade,

In my opinion, it kind of sounds like your body may be telling you it is happy where it is at. If you are working out 2 hours a day, eatin gpretty good, and are that far out, maybe your goal and your bodoes' goal are two different things. Congrats on all your success, and maybe you should set a goal that isn't based on a number on the scale... Like finishing a 5K, or doing 100 push ups continuous, or something along those lines...

Weight is just a number on a scale that is really not important. Do you really have 25 pounds of fat to lose? If you do, maybe you should try some HIIT instead of long cardio sessions. Long cardio sessions can increase hunger in some and cause overeating. Not saying you are doing that just a thought. Maybe you have more muscle mass than you think and you have set a goal that can't be obtained? If your doing an hour of weights a day that may be the case.

I have a similiar problem. Had my bypass in 2007, lost about 100lbs and haven't budged for 2 years, even if I work out often. I'm trying to eat healthier now in hopes that will take my last 30 lbs off. I was able to get my weight off by mostly portion control and I don't eat a lot in general, so for me I have to change my diet almost entirely. Maybe changing up your diet will help, increasing protein and even exercising a bit less? I hear sometimes it can be counter-productive to overexercise.
