Spring ahead Sunday!
5.7 miles of mostly running! I did break it into 2 shifts... 3.3 miles first leg and then 2.4 miles home after a break for lunch, and oddly, the second leg felt better, even with pizza in my belly.
anyway, confidence and stamina is building.

I accidentally did a 10k.
Stupid race was very disorganized and they didn't mark the course right so I ended up on the 10k course instead of the 5k course. (Along with MANY other people.)
The happy part is that I was able to run the whole thing. Slowly. But no walking and the calf held up.

I actually was pretty sure I was on the 10k course by mile 2 so I decided to just gut it out as it would make life simpler to do the 10k course.
But a lot of people ended up doing something weird where they were on the 10k course and then cut over to the 5k course. Those people will have their times put into a special category... "5k Course Problems" as they all ended up running a different distance! (anywhere from 4 to 5.5 miles).
Some of the 10k people also had problems. One ran 7.4 miles. Not sure how he did that, but he was way ahead of me so maybe even the 10k course wasn't being directed correctly for people at the front of hte pack.
He was *pissed* too. I'm not. I don't know whether to , , or but I'm leaning towards
That's because it didn't really mess with me too badly. I had a very easy week due to screwing up my back on Monday, so the extra running was welcome. I feel badly for people who are deep into planning for certain races and ended up running much more than their plans called for.
There was this cute father-daughter couple in front of me for a lot of the race. Once we passed mile 3.2, he bent down and told her "you've done a 5K so any time you want to stop running and start walking is fine with me" but she gutted it out and ran the entire race. Holding hands with her dad. Aw.
