OK, got out this morning at 6am, and it was pictch black for the first hour of our run. The second hour was better and the weather was perfect. No wind, comfortable temperatures, and great conversation to carry me through the run. Forgot my GPS this morning, so had estimate the mileage at between 10-12 (doesn't really matter).
How did you do this wonderful morning?
Rob

I did my first 10k!

It was completely unexpected.  I'm following Hal Higdon's 10k Novice program and timed it to end right at a mid-April 10k race.  Today's run called for 4.5 miles.

My legs felt really good miles 2-4, so I decided to push for the extra few.  It was hard, but it wasn't excruciating.  I'm still in disbelief over it, honestly.

A year ago I was 4 months out from surgery and just starting to walk a few miles at a time.  Later in the year I did my first 5k.  I suppose now I'll need to start looking for local 10 mile and half marathon runs to give me a new challenge!

Have a great weekend all!

Thanks, Andrew!

I'm in the Ithaca/Elmira region.  I'll definitely check out the races going on around the state!

That's awesome!  How hilly of a course is it?

PS - Congrats on the kick ass 13.1.

actually very flat - its a point to point, and actually is downhill.  There are a couple of small hills, but nothing killer.  Total elevation was under 300.  I guess its the fastest Boston qualifier (not that I was close :)  )  I highly recommend it - if you want to set a goal for the Fall, this is a great one!

took a demo bike out this morning on a group ride at the LBS... 30+ miles, liked the ride so much that i bought it :)  (full disclosure, i was torn between the giant defy advanced 1 and the specialized roubaix and the giant demo tour just happened to be in town today, i was leaning that way anyway, the demo ride was the final validation of my decision).
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

Shamrock 8k race in Portland, Oregon. At least three miles of this race was uphill, but despite that I am really happy with my time - averaged 9.44 min/mile.  :)
