Celebrate Life Half Marathon!
Finished up my first half of the year. I was so nervous that I hadn't trained hard enough, and what a lousy showing here would do to my confidence for the HIM training which I have in May.
It was way colder than I thought, and windy, so forgetting a hat and gloves was a really bad idea. My hands were so numb by the 4th mile.
This was by far the hardest 13.1 course I have done. The elevation gain by my Garmin is 809 feet - by comparison, my last half where I PR'd was the Bronx Half, which was 354. The worst part is, the huge hills were right at the start - by the 4th mile my quads and hammys were screaming. The wind and cold didn't help matters.
I didn't PR, but I am really proud of the 2:08 time, its only 3 minutes off what I did the Bronx, but obviously a much tougher course and weather condition. In 3 weeks I am doing 13.1 NYC down in Queens, which is a much flatter course, and I will break 2:00 there God willing.
This is a great challenging race, and they had Outback cater the post race meal - so those in the area ought to plan on it next year - of course a great cause (supporting Cancer patients). Thanks for the moral support y'all.. time to go ice bath and relax!

nice work! we all question ourselves and if we're prepared for a big event from time to time (i do it almost every time). keep your focus, you are definitely on the right track and good luck in NYC. PS, great job with that 13th mile!
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

The wind up here was awful too - Congrats on a great job! You'll knock the next one out of the park!
