I just check all the link, the closest ones to me are an hour away. I really appreciate you trying to help me.

I am doing a metric century on the 18th, in a town an hour away, I hope to meet some cyclists there to hopefully get together for rides, so I have hope.

Sorry!

I did some more looking after my post with the links and there really isn't anything near you.  I'm kind of spoiled, the local club has ride M, W, F during the day for those who happen to have the days off, and there are at least 1 ride each weekend some times 2 or more each day.

I hope you find a safe place to ride, maybe just 1 or 2 people that you can ride with.

How about the local bike store, maybe they have something or a bulletin board you could try and organize something.

The link I posted earlier about the womens racing, is being cohosted by one of our local shops.  Another shop hosts a weekend ride almost every week, and another one just did a ride that hit the halfway point at their shop, where they hosted a bbq.  It was a good pr/business gesture.  They cooked some hot dogs, had some cookies and chips, water, gatorade things like that.  They also had a sale going on.  It may have cost them some money, but they also sold stuff to the riders as well.  So even if they didnt make much, they generated a lot of good will.  I'd certainly frequent their business again just because they were so friendly.

Anyhow stay safe and avoid the pitbulls.

My "local bike store" is over an hour away, but I would be willing to get out to that area once a month or so for a group ride, if they will let me in with my tri bike. I gave my road bike to my best friend and she is slowly getting into riding, so I have a partner for my short rides.

Sounds like you live in an awesome area for cyclists. My husband is originally from Concord, so when we visit his family maybe I will attempt to bring my bike along.

I will try my best to avoid the pit bulls, we have 2 dangerous ones in my neighborhood and the owners don't believe in leashes or fences. One of them bit another running, and attacked one of my miniature dachshunds. The other one try to attacked me while running, and my husband was with me and kicked to crap out of it until the owner pulled it away.

i still can't get over the fact that you are packing when you train :)

that sucks about the conditions, but that should make your success all the more sweeter. the harder we work for something (and want it) the better we can savor the victory when we acheive our goals. if this stuff was easy, everybody would do it!
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

Well, you're faster than me and I've been riding longer...

So why not go for it? If you are too slow, you won't place well. But training for the races will help with that and its' fun to watch your placements improve.

Most clubs have a beginner's group that average (12-15) and a more intense group in the (15-18 mph). If your at 15-16 already you shouldn't have a problem. Some clubs are ultra intense and average around 22+ (such as my brother), but those people also home mortgages on their bikes. Just get out there, the worst thing that will is that you will have to ride the last couple of miles by yourself, but most clubs have trailers that pick up the stragglers and ride with them at a more comfortable pace.
