I'm doing my first century ride!!!

I can't wait! It's part of the training for the AIDS LifeCycle ride in June, but anyone can participate. Then the next month we're doing a double metric (125miles). Any northern Cali peeps wanna come???

Never in a million years would I have imagined myself riding my bike over 200 miles in a week, but this past week I did just that.

This surgery was the best gift to myself, and my bike was the best Christmas present ever.

They are put on by this rider Chris Thomas, read the blog... www.ridewithchris.org/

He's great and anyone can join any of the rides! They are set at CAT 3 pace (12-15mph) but you can always go faster!!

Wow, that is awesome!
Hope you have got some really great bike shorts...

If you are really enjoying cycling, you might want to check out some cycling tours for a future vacation, such as www.bikevermont.com - we did the Tuscany cycling trip for our honeymoon - it was AMAZING (you need some serious hill training before going) and we did the Maine trip a couple of years ago.  I found it to be a wonderful way to see part of the world and to enjoy my new fitness level.

Thanks, yeah I do need to get some more bike shorts, I've only got two and I have to do lots of laundry!

I would love to do bike vacations, but my partner has two bad knees (she needs a total replacement on both) so at the moment it's out of the question...but someday...

awesome!  i remember my first with fond memories, you are going to have a blast.  there are few events with the sense of camaraderie as a long charity ride.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

Yeah, I can't wait! I wish there was one sooner, but things don't seem to start around here till April. Of course I could go do the Hells Gate Hundred at the end of March, but I think it might be a little ambitious for my first century!

Thanks for the link to the rides.
Very cool training rides you have coming up.
It's a bit far for me to head down there for a training ride, so I think I'll have to find some more local rides or head out on my own to grind some miles.

Good luck with the rides, I hope you have pleasant weather for them.

Yeah, SR is a ways, but if you change your mind. The double metric is fully supported and I've heard it's a fun, tough and beautiful ride!

Stay Warm out There!
