Another week and I made it...kind of.

Tues: Jog 5 mins, Walk 3 mins, Jog 8 mins, Walk 3 mins, Jog 5 mins
Jogged at 6.6 mph, walked at 3.3.
33:30 mins / 424 cals / 2.75 miles

Thurs: Jog 10 mins, Walk 3 mins, Jog 10 mins
Jogged at 6.6 mph, walked at 3.3
30 mins / 480 cals / 2.73 miles

Sat: Jog 25 mins
Started jogging at 6.6 mph.  Then got tired really quickly and dropped to 5.5 mph for the long haul.  Walked at 3.3.
37 mins / 2.92 miles (Almost 5k!!!) 2.42 miles was actual jogging!
There were about 3 times during the jog that I used the hand rails to support myself while still moving my feet, so that's why I said I 'kind of' made it.  I have work to do before I feel I can actually say I ran for 25 mins.

All in all, a good week.  I got out on the bike a couple times this week for 8+ miles at a time.  I played volleyball for a couple hours, and got my ass handed to me playing a singles tennis match.

On to week 7!

You must be quite pleased - you came very very close to the 5km distance - an accomplishment on its own.  You'll work up to continuous running for the whole time/distance in no time at all.  On to week 7!

I've still got 15 weeks of training for my next race so still a long way to go for me.....

Quite pleased, indeed.

Thanks for the support.  I ran a full 2.5 miles last night at 6 mph.  My wife asked me why I stopped, and I could only say that it was because the program told me to stop...that's a lame reason.  Of course, I was exhausted and kept racing toward the 25 minute mark, but I probably could have kept at it.

Only 6 tenths of a mile to go...

I love reading your progress.  You are finishing the week I'm starting when you post this so it tells me I can make it through.

I made it through the 20 minute (I actually did 21 minutes!) run last week... and am doing W6D2 tomorrow.

Not dreading the 25 minute run this week, I know I can do it... it's *just* 4 minutes than last week!

The mild progression of the program keeps me thinking I can do the next week's regimen, despite my dread of it.

Good on you for your 21 minute success!!!

This week I have 3 25 minute runs.  I knocked out the first one last night!  2.5 miles at 6 mph!!!  I can't believe I ran TWO AND A HALF MILES!!!  WOW!  I'll have to work up to my 6.6 mph desired pace by the end of the week.  Then I only have another 5-6 minutes to add in order to get to a full 5K!

My race is 6 weeks away, and I am getting excited about the prospect of finishing under 30 minutes (dare I say under 25 mins?)!
