Thanks to eveyone
I am a wuss and lack the confidence to train with anyone yet. I'm nervous about my 5k goal in mid-April. I'm gonna do the BoulderDash.
As we come into spring and summer I might feel stronger and have the confidence to feel like I'm not going to be pulling anyone else down should we meet up for a run sometime. The greenway would be a great track.

not to worry, we all have been exactly where you are today. i'm planning on doing that race as well, we should plan on saying hi. best of luck in your training, let me know if i can help in any way.
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

Chad I know exactly how you feel and have been there. There is a reason I used to just run the Greenway early in the morning, and it was all about how I felt in front of people, even after finishing my first 5K.
It wasn't until it got cold (GA cold) that I had to move inside and really had no choice but to do it in front of people. Confidence is the main reason I listen to loud music while I workout and feel naked without my headphones.
I am still a bit intimidated doing weights at the gymn with my little ass arms, but I just do my thing and will get better with time.
As you progress and become more confident things will start to change. For me the running has, I am even the captain of a team at my office (doing a 2 month milage contest). I have 2 marathon runners on my team and were pretty psyched when they heard my story from a coworker.
Trust me you won't slow me down. I have seen you post your speeds which are much better than mine.
The offer for an hour on the Greenway stands whenever you are ready.

it's all in the cycle paul! you are now in the arc where you are inpiring others just as much as you are gaining inspiration from the site. keep up the good work and i look forward to seeing you working hard in the mornings too (and one of these days i will convince you to hit a spin class with me :) )

I was tempted last week. How about I set a goal of doing it in 4 weeks from tomorrow? If I am not there you have the right to drag me into it.

Paul,
This board is really about paying it forward. Scott, Linn and Rob, were among those that first tempted me to follow in their footsteps. I saw their success and knew I wanted to be just like them. Every day I'm inspired by the people who are just starting, because I remember how hard it was to step outside of my comfort zone. The confidence that we gain from our physical accomplishments translates into greater confidence in all of life's pursuits. We're stronger physically; but, more importantly, we're stronger emotionally and mentally.
We're glad you've decided to join us! You're a great addition to our family.
