Best workout sneakers?

I get a lot of foot pain during exercising, which makes it difficult to really get a decent workout since my feet will start killing me before I or my muscles even get tired. I'm thinking the problem may just be that I need more supportive, better cushioned shoes.

So any recommendations for sneakers that offer the support needed to reduce the impact on my feet while I weigh nearly 300 lbs? I need something that's not exclusive to one type of activity as I do various DVD cardio routines, weight/muscle training, and will also use the treadmill. I'd only use them for working out so appearance is not an issue at all. I just want something that my feet will thank me for.

I personally like new balance shoes as they come in wide widths.

I also second new balance. They're the best. Before I used NB I used Nikes, the difference was night and day. NB rules!

You will probably want to go to a athletic shoe store and try on stability shoes. I think most good brands have a few different varieties of them. I currently wear Saucony Omni, which I like, but I think everyone's feet are different. I had a lot of plantar fasciatis and shin splints before I started wearing good shoes. None since.

I am a barefoot runner and love my Five Fingers but I agree, everyone is different and I would also recommend going into a running store and trying them on and purchase what works best for you.
