Disneyland Half Marathon?? Do you think i will be ready?
Hey Y'all I am new to this forum, but i decided a couple weeks ago to start the couch to 5k program. Its going great, and i have now set my sights on doing the Disneyland Half marathon in September.... any suggestions on how to get ready for tis thing.. on cool runnings it suggests you should be able to run 5 miles comfortably before training for a half marathon.... anyone with experience think I can do this realistically??? I just know I want to be well beyond doing the 5k by September....
Thanks in advance for your help!!!

It's definitely possible. I ran an 11.6 mile race 8 months after surgery and a full 13 months after. Here is my caution though. When you start getting up in mileage, your appetite may increase. It certainly did with me. If I had it to do again, I would have waited a year to cement good eating habbits before I started the heavy training with the appetite increase. Can you do it? Absolutely.

I did my first half about 8 months after I started running. I started with a walk to jog program in late May and completed my first half the following January.
Of course you can do it! Just be certain you have the right shoe for your gait and get someone to check out your running form. Those 2 things will make running much easier on the body.

YEs you can! Take it in phases. Set out to accomplish a 5k and then a 10k and then the half. That is how I did it. I started the c25k program in March last year and just did my first half a week ago!!! I am doing another half in two weeks. It will get better and better and though while doing it it may seem like you won't get there but when you do you will be amazed with what you accomplished in such little time!!
