I normally listen to a lot of christian rock, however, I recently discovered that the best music to run to, by far, is Iron Maiden. I have experimented with various 5k playlists, and I am quite confident in 3 weeks I will be setting a new PR with my all Iron Maiden 5k Playlist.
By the way, on my marathon, I actually went through and hand picked 4 hours of songs based on what I thought I would need at any particular moment.. unfortunately, I fell behind on pace so the whole concept got a bit screwed up - however, I credit Journey's Don't Stop Believing as coming on at the exact perfect moment in mile 21 or so (was supposed to be my finishing song) to get me over my wall.

hip hop, heavy metal, alternative, techno, 90's rock, ambient, etc. my playlist for the goofy was called "long", it was 5 hours long and was built to get me through waiting and the race, and had lots of repeat motivational songs to keep me going.
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.
