Has anyone tried ZUMBA?? Tell me all about it, I am considering trying a class to see if it is for me. I seems to be all the rave right now. Hopefully it will help me lose some of the weight I have gained over the last few months.

Zumba is awesome! Just go to a class and let yourself go. No one will be looking at you, they are all too busy watching the instructor. A really good class will burn 600-900 calories an hour! I come out drenched! I did go through a few instructors until I found one I really liked. It took me three classes to decide i really loved it. I even have the cute Zumba shoes!

Im A Zumba addict but I wish they made plus size clothing.. poo.. The sizes are soo small an xl mimmicks a small in normal sense sizing. It  takes time to learn dances but very rewarding! Just learn foot work first then body will follow.
Take care,
Christine
Ps  600-900 calories a class.. wow Didnt realize.. wahhoo!

You have to be in it to win it!

I tried it. its hard at first. The instructors go really fast, but its fun. they tell you that as long as you continue to move, then following it exactly doesn't matter. i had fun with it. you should try it.

Be very careful and GO SLOW. Studies show that moderate excercise is better than intense. Stay away from the push yourself until you drop mentality...it is an ego trip; also It leads to burn out and is not backed by science

One of the recreation centers I frequent gave Zumba classes this past fall. I went a couple of times when the pool was closed for repairs. I really loved it, the steps weren't too hard, the instructor took us through the basic steps, and we really worked up a sweat! Make sure you take a towel and a BIG bottle of water, because you'll definitely need it. Like with any new exercise program, proceed with caution. Also I have really bad osteoarthritic knees, basically bone on bone, and I was still able to keep up with the best of them the 1st time. Sadly the instructor had to stop b/c she broke her leg on the ice from our first snowfall!!!! Enjoy yourself

I've done a lot of ZUMBA and really like it.  It does take some getting used to, but stick with it.  The class is so much fun that the time goes by so quickly and I forget I'm working out.  Give yourself time to get used to it and I think you'll really like it, plus get a great workout.

I went to a free class 2 weeks ago and I'm hooked! It was so much fun it didn't feel like working out at all. I work at the VA and our employee health coordinator has gotten us 7 weeks of free class right at our facility so how could I say no to that!

Just have fun and if you can't do everything exactly as the instructor just keep moving and modify whatever you need to. No one is very coordinated so we all laugh and just have fun.
