Update on my husband, DUANE
Hello all~ I have not been on OH since September 2010. My husband, Duane has been very active on this board and he has had multiple health issues (not Gastric Bypass related).
The cliff note version (because we started week 21 yesterday)
Type A Aortic Dissection with Aneurysm
Bowel obstruction
Hernia
Blood clots in lungs and legs
Infection
and now the latest: malnutrition and malabsorbtion (because of our gastric bypass how we get and process nutrition is different than pre-surgery)
We were sent to a facility that is an affiliate of St. Vincents to build up and work on Duane's nutrition levels. Needless to say: after a talk a couple of weeks ago they stated they could do nothing more for Duane and 90% of patients with his severity of malnutrition die. This was not acceptable to me. PRIOR TO THE DR.S TALK -- I had called our gastric bypass Dr to advise her of what was going on. Only to find ------>>>she had never been consulted on Duane's case. For 2 1/2 months my husband has been starving to death. **Needless to say, I asked for a transfer to St. Vincent Carmel. Duane is getting better, however it is going to be a LONG, SLOW ROAD.
Due to issues with heart stopping, low blood pressure, and labored breathing; Duane is on a vent and has a trach. Therefore, he is in a sedated/coma state.
I appreciate those of your, especially on the exercise board keeping people updated. I will try to get on here more frequently and update you all.
This has been mentally and emotionally draining to go through all of this. It is happening to Duane's body but I am also going through all this as well.
We would appreciate your prayers, support, positive vibes and mojo. Hopefully, Duane will be on here soon updating his own posts.
Thanks ~Alisica~

Aliscia,
My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and Duane. You have been his strength and his advocate for these many long weeks.
