Running in the Rain?

I am running a 10k this weekend and there is a good chance of rain with 40 degree temps.  I have never run in the rain.

I would appreciate any suggestions in how to dress...or any other tricks in coping with the weather conditions.

I wouldn't worry too much. Wear your normal clothes - maybe an additional light layer. Your body will heat up with the running. As for the rain - you'll just get wet. :)

It's after the the race that you'll want to have a change of clothes. Something dry and fuzzy preferably.

Best of luck with your run.

I might just throw on a hat to keep the rain out of my face. I would also bring some dry clothes for after. Nothing better than a nice warm dry sweatshirt after a wet run.

Per the other suggestions, your after race attire is most important.  Getting the wet stuff off and warming up your body after the race is important to prevent injury.

I did a 12 mile run two weeks ago in the rain (pouring at times) and it was 30 degrees. Not bad at all other than the rain getting in my eyes.

I did a 5k this past weekend in the rain but it wasn't as cold, probably 45. It was actually a really nice run. You may find you really like it Good luck!

You received a lot of helpful advise. I would like to also add one more thing. If you don't already have body glide, it's a good idea to invest in it. You can find it most sport's stores and it will cost around $5-$7. Anytime, your body has any type of moisture on it, you could chaff. Make sure you put it on really good around the areas your skin will come into contact with seams from your clothing (bra line, under the arms, etc.). Best wishes!!!
