Feet hurt after running on treadmill

My feet get so sore sometimes after I've ran and/or inclined to the max on the treadmill.  Sore to the point of I can't put my feet down.  Has anyone had this problem, if so, how do you treat it?

It's been 3 days and I still can't workout because the ball of my feet is S-O-A-R!! Thinking about going to a foot doctor.  It feels sore like I stepped on a nail and the site is soar....but all I did was run for 30 minutes on the treadmill.  This is the second time this has happened to me in a 2 months.  The first time, I elevated my foot and it took a week to get better.

Just wondering if it's something I need to get checked.

I had this issue, even when I weighed a lot less, and I saw a podiatrist. The first diagnosis was a stress facture. Walking boot for two months. Pain didn't go away. Second "diagnosis" was that I just didn't have any fat on the balls of my feet, so no cushion, and therefore pain.

You should have it checked out, maybe some x-rays to rule anything out.

Thanks, I'm going to do that.  I appreciate the response.

Is it possible that you don't have the right athletic shoe for your foot type?  I started a walking program post-op and will be starting a C25K running/training program next week.  Everyone has told me it is critical to get the right shoe for my gait and that a good shoe store will be able to look at my gait and tell me if I over/under pronate and which shoe I need.

So my question for those in the know:  can foot pain after exercise be caused by the wrong athletic shoe?

I am creating my own revolution and PAMdemonium reigns!

It Sounds like Plantar Fasciatis... Freeze a can of Coke, and roll it under your foot with pressure. It will feel like your foot is getting stabbed, but if you can calm down the inflamation, it will provide you some relief. It is usually a result of VERY tight calf muscles. Work on getting those stretched out, perhaps massage therapy or Active Release Technique (ART) with a Chiropractor. Stretching is critical, as are good shoes. I recommend getting some shoe inserts.... You can pick up the SPENCO Brand inserts for under $20 at your local running store....

Thanks everyone.  I've heard that it may be my shoes also, so this weekend, I'm going to a running store for shoes.  I'll try the can of cold Coke also and see if that helps.

Thanks again.

Absolutely DO look at the shoes, but I also agree with Dan.  Sounds suspiciously like plantar fasciitis to me.  Get that checked out as well.

My husband had this happen to him.  He now stretches at least 10 minutes post workout.  He sits down, legs straight out, wraps a towel around the bottom of his foot (still in shoes) and pulls forward, stretching the calf muscle.  It's working great, it's been six months, and no relapse.
