Well, I had my hernia surgery yesterday.  Went in at 7am and checked out at noon.  My surgeon actually gave me extra instructions about spending time recovering and not overdoing it.  He also took my wife aside and told her it's important to not let me over do it.  On top of that, he actually called my running partner and told her no running till he gives clearance.  I guess nobody trusts me at all.

Today I'm still sore but feeling better than yesterday.  Looking forward to doing some walking on Monday or Tuesday, but can't even imagine it right now.

All right, since I'm down, you guys are going to have pick up the slack for Nate and I, and put in a good week.  Counting on you.

You did your part last weekend.  I'm still amazed at how well you handled the marathon on the second day of Disney.

So Rob, my dad ended up having a second hernia (and surgery) because he didn't follow instructions well enough when he had his first surgery.  Just because you think you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Please DO be kind to yourself and realize that after all this time since WLS your habits are ingrained and you WILL be back to your current fitness in no time.

No one is truly patient (which is why you and your people got counseled) but that's the most important thing at this point.  Take care and I'll be thinking of you.

Well I ran a 3.1 today in the cold...not 11 degrees but 32 and windy...my chest is not used to the cold...I really need to start breathing thru my nose..but it is hard, any suggestions?  I heard about chewing gum?

Anyway, my best to Rob and Nate!!!

Finally got to the workout this afternoon...

5 interrupted miles.  I came to the realization that when my body is more stressed I have more gastric troubles.  Got to the gym and it was pretty busy and someone else was using the fan.  Rather than waiting I started and ended up getting way to hot.  After giving up for a few, the gal who was using the fan finished and I took possession, but  by that time I was still hot and couldn't get the guts to settle back down.  Oh well, I still managed to get my 5 miles in that I wanted.

Then (patting myself on the back) I got in the water and did a 700 yd swim.  Only took me 17 minutes.  That's very good for me especially since it was my first time in the water in months and I'm not a fast swimmer anyway.  I almost didn't do it being tired and all, but I'm very glad I did.
