I did it now.  I went and signed up for my first triathlon.  Its a small sprint (500m swim/13.5 mile bike/3 mile run). Holy crap!
I started training for one Jan 1, but had yet to make it official.  I am following a plan for an Olympic distance but my first two (that I plan on) will only be sprints.  The first one, July 17 will then be followed by another sprint July 24.  It makes me a little nervous, thinking about doing 2 sprints in two weeks, but hopefully I should be good training for a longer distance.

I made the final payment on a new road bike, just don't know which one I am going to get.  It will either be a Specialized Roubaix or Tarmac.  I have rode both a little, but want to ride them again before I place the order.  With the crappy weather and 10 of snow on the ground in Nebraska, its hard to get out and ride.  I am so giddy about getting a new carbon, I cant hardly stand it.  COME ON SPRING!

The Roubaix has longer head tube than the  Tarmac, so when you want to add aerobars it will be easier to get the front end longer with the Tarmac.  That being said, I own a Roubaix and absolutely love it (even coming from a titanium Merlin Extralight)

Good luck with your tri plans
