Can any reccomend a good running watch and why you like yours?

I would like to work on improving my time or learning how to better pace myself.

I love my Garmin 205.  It does not have the heart monitor, like other models, but it has plenty of functions that I haven't even gotten to learning yet and I've had it 6 months already.

I love being able to see my pace and how far I've gone, i feel like it frees me up to try out different routes and still know my distance.  I can also set it to prompt me on different workout - like beep when it's time to run vs walk or when I fall below (or above!) a certain pace.

I can upload the data to the computer and see graphs of speed along with elevation and really see where I struggle and compare routes over time.

I can't compare it to others since this is the first of its kind that I've owned, but I'm very happy with it.

I have the Garmin 305 and although it is a little bulky it is great for cycling and running.  I have used mine for three years now, and feel naked without it.  Great at helping with pacing if you set the assistant.

i have the garmin 310XT, if you are going to do tri's this is the watch for you (you can swim with it, it has good multisport options and a really long battery life).  Otherwise, there are a lot of other (cheaper) options you can go with.  it is my 2nd garmin watch, i would suggest that you go with a watch with actual buttons vs the touch circle bezel thing, i personally had a lot of problems with it.

Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

I have a Garmin 405cx, with heart rate and cycling cadence, and footpod.

Love it!!!

Take some getting used to the menu's, matter of fact, the menu is rather hard, but you have unlimited options on how to set it up.

If there is anything better, I would like to see it.  But im sure there is something easier to use.

I just got the 305 for cycling and running last week on Amazon for $128 with the heart rate monitor. I also bought the optional cadence sensor for my bike. Before that I was using a forerunner 110, which is just for running. I liked the 110 a lot, but needed something for cycling and running. I really wanted the 310, but its just too expensive at the current moment.

If you are looking to buy used, I have the forerunner 110 in pink and gray, have only owned it for 6 months and I have babied it so it's in great condition, but if you think you will get into cycling, I bought the 305 last week on amazon for $128 with the heart rate monitor.
