Are cyclists more prone to kidney and bladder stones??

So I go in for outpatient surgery next Wednesday...Bladder stones.  I had kidney stones years ago (pre RNY) and have high uric acid.  Saw a blurb somewhere (I don't remember where) that said cyclists are more prone to bladder stones than the general population.  Was wondering if it was because of the pressure from the bike seat...Or the dehydration and not getting in the liquids since the breeze is cooling us off and we don't drink enough.  Had anyone heard about this issue before and do you know of any medical studies that can bear this out?  I forgot to ask the urologist about this...Will ask the day of surgery if I can remember.  Thanks, Brian

I don't know for sure about the effect of cycling, but I do know that people who eat more vegetarian types of diets tend to have more alkaline urine. The alkalinity is what increases the risk for kidney stones because those ions/compounds are more soluble in an acidic solution.

It also stands to reason that high protein diets contribute to the stone issue since uric acid is a very weak acid and falls out of solution easily.

Probably not much help, but that's what I know.
