Trail running shoes vs. traditional running shoes

I bought a pair of Nike Air Trail Ridge this weekend on clearance for $37.99 but after I got home, I got online and found a lot of mixed opinions on whether they would be suitable for running on pavement. I kept the box and receipt and used them on the treadmill to test them -- they actually feel great and the thicker sole actually supported my foot better so i'm not returning them. I also read that trail shoes tend to be heavier but these were very lightweight.

What are your thoughts?

Be happy.

I have a pair of nike running shoes that I was fitted for at a true running store and a pair of rebok trail shoes and they both feel the same to me. I don't put up as many miles as some of the others though. For me at around 20 to 25 miles a week it doesn't make a lot of difference.
No longer about weight , it's all about living.

When I inquired about trail running shoes at a running shop the main difference was that there isn't any stability in the construction if you pronate. That was really the only difference. If you're a pronator then you may be better off with regular running shoes with that extra support.

that's my two cents worth : )
